Şile is a pretty resort town on the Black Sea coast of Istanbul, in the Asian part of Istanbul, about 65 kilometers from the city center. During the spring and on nice autumn weekends, people from Istanbul come to Şile to enjoy fish in one of the local restaurants around the fishermen's harbor or to walk around its narrow streets. In Şile's castle, it has an enormous lighthouse in Turkey, now a tiny restaurant overlooking the sea; it also became the symbol of Şile. Above the harbor are ruins of a Genoese fortress on the steep rocks, also used during the Ottoman period.
